The KPL has a long tradition that dates back to its inception in 1893, one of relying on the generosity of the many private citizens who believe that a library is vital to the establishment of an informed citizenry; which, in turn, is vital to the future wellbeing of the generations that follow. And as information has become even more important to our way of life, so, too, has the modern library grown to incorporate the ever-changing needs of a “technology” driven society.
Over the years, the KPL has been the recipient of many generous contributions that include land and buildings, as well as funding. A tradition that includes the Friends of the KPL and Trustees gifting the Pond Mansion/Masonic Temple/Heberton Hall property to the City in 2003. This generosity has made it possible for the community to improve its library facility to a state-of-the-art complex far more than the municipality could do alone.
Today we are asking for contributions to complete this important work of restoring the Annex for its full use and connecting the two facilities (existing Library to the Library Annex including Heberton Hall).
Private contributions in combination with the many financial gifts from corporate/local businesses, foundations and people like you will make it possible.
Please join us in writing the next chapter in the history of The Keene Public Library. We’re grateful for your support and every donation makes a difference.
“The only thing that you absolutely need to know is the location of the library.” – Albert Einstein
